My Weight loss so far
I began dieting 2 weeks ago. I lost 5 lbs in that time. I am very happy with that amount. I lost 3 lbs the first week and 2 the second week. I expect to lose about 1 lb per week from now on. My goal is to lose 15 lbs...So I am only 10 lbs from my goal. My diet is simple I am eating smaller portions. I already eat a good balanced diet so I just needed to put less on my plate. As far as exercise is concerned it amounts to chasing a 20 month old when I am not working. I really don't have the time to exercise with full time job and a side business that takes a lot of time.
Anybody else out there trying to lose a few pounds?

Weight Loss So Far
Dave, good to hear from you! Most of us can identify with your situation concerning lack of time for exercise. Chasing your daughter around is great! My kids 20 and 15 years respectively now chase me. Point is they remember chasing and being chased to this day. (Most of the time it's all in fun although sometimes.....) Anyway you are exposing her and your self to what I call "active time". Active time can take place any where, any time! Invest in an egg timer, set for no more than 30 minutes while at your desk and when it goes off...You go off of your behind and walk around...find something to do. Rollout the trash cans, start a load of laundry
I'll be right back...Ok, add fifteen push-ups on the ground or against the kitchen counter. Make that grocery store run and park as far away as possible and skip to the door with your daughter, take a park break after lunch to avoid the sleepies. you get the idea. At this juncture in your life you have to "make-up" your exercise just like you made up games as a kid to keep from being bored. if you work in a place that has steps, use them more than once. I'm a big believer that we have to do the best we can at the place we're in right now. Believe me when your daughter gets to be the age of either of my kids you'll have a little more time for planned exercise so make exercise excuse with your wife and daughter and yourself in mind! And you will have created the habit of making time for exercise! mbake

thanks for the encouragement
I weighed in this morning and lost another 1 lb. I am right on target for losing all 15 lbs within a 15-17 week time frame. I just completed week 3 and have lost 6 lbs. I know it will go slower from here...
My wife and I have added some exercise to the routine. We are walking for 30 minutes each day. I am also doing a few sets of crunches while playing with my daughter on the floor.
I am eating 3 small meals and 3 small snacks in between meals. I am not counting calories, but I am making sure my food choices are good. Where I work there is constantly cookies and donuts around. I have not broken down yet. Instead I am opting for a granola bar for something sweet. All in all I am doing well. On the weekend I eat a little more and have a few beers to keep in balance and to keep my metabolism primed for monday-friday.

Congratulations
Congratulations Dave, I'm so glad to see you have made it a family affair to walk each day. Have you thought about getting a pedometer to see how many steps per day your walking . Most experts suggest to work up to 10,000 steps per day.

Another week another pound
I had a few slip ups this week, but was still able to get another pound off. As the diet goes on the will weakens, but then I look in the mirror and see my face thinner and my pants fitting loose and I feel motivated again.
Next week I will begin riding my bike to and from work...as weather permits. It's only a 2 mile commute each way, but that is still some extra exercise to squeeze into my tight schedule. Not to mention saving gas money and the environment.

Re: My Weight loss so far
Dave, Keep it going buddy! I too have been mixing in some bike rides to clients homes. It is pretty safe and gets more comfortable the more I do it. 8:00 am is the worst! So I try to ride when traffic is lowest and take some roads not so traveled. It does make a big difference at the end of the week!

Another week
Another 1.5 lbs. I had a very good week this week. My diet was flawless....minus a few beers on Tuesday night..Other than that, perfect. I rode my bike to work 2 days and plan on 3 this week. I did some light weight training mon - wed - fri. I am actually convinced that I would have lost more weight had I not lifted. But lean mass is good!!!! I was a competitive powerlifter and then bodybuilder for 10 years and I do believe muscles have memory because if I even look at a weight, I grow...Even though it has 13 years since I seriously lifted weights...Back injury, long story.
So in 4 weeks I have lost 7.5 lbs total.

Another week Another....
1.5 lbs. It was a good week. But, with this being a holiday weekend known for heavy indulgence it may be tough to match that or even lose any weight this week. That is ok. I have lost weight for 6 weeks in a row. I think I can do it again this week, but it will take a very serious cut back starting Monday to lose even a half pound.

A carb addicts diary
I am Dave's wife and I have lost 7 lbs since we started this diet 6 weeks ago.
First let me tell you how I became overweight. During my pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in last trimester, and I followed the recommended diet strictly to avoid insulin injections. After the birth of my daughter, due to high stress and strict dieting I overindulged in all the things I was deprived of. I have found success by being very strict during the week and relaxing my diet on the weekends, but still keeping our portions smaller, and because my husband and I are competing against each other, neither one of us is provoking poor eating habits and I am not cooking anymore

I'm back
I have been extremely busy lately and wanted to give an update on my weight loss. I am happy to say that I have lost some weight each week for the last 4 weeks...Unfortunately, it was .5 lbs or less per week, but still moving in the right direction. I know the reason why i haven't lost more and I am correcting that. Let's just say that many calories come in liquid form and I have been getting too many that way.
I am getting on the wagon and getting on my bike again to ride to work.
Overall, I have lost 15 lbs and I am weighing 170.5 lbs. This was my senior year of high school weight ....er....um 21 years ago. I was a weightlifter then, so I need to lose at least 8-10 more lbs to be as lean as then....Due to 15 years of serious weight training I still have a stocky frame and 160 lbs would be the bare minimum for me.

First of all congratulations for your good start. Eating less is not a best way to loose weight. Eating healthy and well balanced diet is quite helpful to loose weight. Our body require some nutrients which are helpful to loose weight. Drinking lemon juice with honey early in the morning is best home remedy to loose weight. So eat well balanced diet to keep you slim.
