50 push-ups!

Post  Core Dynamics on Wed Jul 09, 2008 4:40 pm

All you guys involved with the Co-worker weight loss challenge and Mark's bench press goal have really gotten me inspired to set my own goal. At Mark's and Mike's encouragement, I am going to log my progress on a frequent basis. As I tell my clients, "writing it down makes it happen" so I am going to practice what I preach! For those of you who don't know, I have set a goal to do 50 consecutive full-body push-ups before I turn 50! I have one year and I think I can do it before then. Yeah. I can. So, when I hit the 50 rep mark, I will try to increase the number of push-ups by however many months I have left before I turn 50. Tomorrow at 5:30am will be my test. I will see how many I can do before my 6am workout... before I'm too pooped... and will start from there. I'm thinking 25 is my starting point. So. I'm half way there? We'll see!

Well, I know everyone is just dying to hear how my 'test' push-up session went last week! As luck would have it, my email server went down on Thursday and we didn't get it back until the weekend... I forgot all about it by then! But... I am very pleased to say that I knocked out 34 full body push-ups! When I breezed by 25, I was shocked! I was really trying to get to 40 but 32, 33 & 34 took all I had. I'm psyched! I will keep doing what I'm doing and try to work on more and more push-ups when my body is fresh... like at 5:00 in the morning! Thanks Mike and Mark for your encouragement!

Libby cheers

Libby,

great show 32 WOW... I am a big advocate of volume trainning. See how many sets it take to do 100 pushups and work on decreasing the sets. Also look at possibly adding some resistance to the push up every now and then.

Push ups

Post  mbake on Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:44 pm

Libby, are you doing any "unstable" push ups? Like flipping the bosu ball over and doing push ups on it?
